Stage 1 – Voluntary Water Watch Now in Effect for Irrigation Water Users Only
PARACHUTE, CO – At its regular meeting in July, the Parachute Town Council unanimously adopted an ongoing and standing Water Restriction and Conservation Program designed to help the Town respond quickly and responsibly to changing water conditions. This new program allows the Town to implement or lift water use restrictions as needed throughout the year, based on real-time water availability, drought conditions, and regional coordination.
As announced July 15, 2025, the Town remains at Stage 1 – Water Watch, due to low flows on the Parachute Creek. The Town remains at Stage 1 thanks in part to continued coordination with other users on Parachute Creek and the community’s ongoing conservation efforts. Stage 1 is a voluntary stage that applies to irrigation (raw water) users only. The Town is not implementing any mandatory restrictions at this time, and potable (drinking) water customers are not affected.
However, the Town encourages all irrigation water users to take simple voluntary actions now to help conserve water, such as:
Reducing outdoor watering frequency to 3-5 days / week
Watering only in the early morning or late evening to reduce evaporation
Focusing water use on trees, vegetables, and essential landscaping only
Avoiding overwatering lawns or irrigating during rainfall
These voluntary steps are important. By reducing use now, the community may avoid the need for more severe and mandatory restrictions later this summer. The Town thanks residents and businesses for doing their part to use water wisely and protect our shared resources.
If conditions change, additional stages of the program may be implemented. Future restrictions will be announced publicly, and users are strongly encouraged to stay informed by:
Downloading the Town of Parachute mobile app from the Apple or Google Play Store and subscribing to notifications
Following the Town’s official social media accounts for real-time updates
