FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 25, 2025
The Town of Parachute’s Planning Commission is welcoming new faces and fresh energy in 2025! After a series of transitions, the Commission now boasts three (ish!) new members ready to help shape the future of our town.
Following the appointment of Planning Commission member David A. Blair to the Town Council—filling the vacancy left by former Council Member Rory Birdsey—Mr. Blair’s Planning Commission seat became available. Mr. Blair’s Town Council term will run through April 2026.
Additionally, on February 22, 2025, Council Member Juanita Williams submitted her resignation as the ex officio representative to the Planning Commission, creating a second vacancy. Shortly after, on March 14, 2025, Vice-Chair Renck resigned from the Commission, opening up a third seat with a term expiring in April 2026.
At the March 20, 2025 regularly scheduled public meeting, the Town Council made several exciting appointments:
Council Member David Blair was appointed as the ex officio member to the Planning Commission, with a term to align with his Council service through April 2026.
Kim Owens was appointed to fill the at-large vacancy left by Council Member Blair. Her term will run through April 2028.
Tim Olk was appointed to fill the seat previously held by Vice-Chair Renck, with a term ending in April 2026.
These appointments follow the Town’s successful January call for Town Council applicants, which drew a pool of highly qualified and engaged community members. Many applicants indicated a willingness to serve on the Planning Commission if not selected for Council, and the Town Council was pleased to fill the Commission vacancies from this talented group.
Let’s give a warm welcome to Kim Owens and Tim Olk as they join the Planning Commission, and a big congratulations to Council Member Blair on his reappointment!
With fresh perspectives and a continued sense of purpose, 2025 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for planning and progress in Parachute!
